Every person needs a certain amount of sleep in order to feel well rested. The amount of hours of enough sleep varies depending on person. The average time that an adult needs to sleep is between seven and eight hours each night.

Although not everyone is able to have a good sleep. Especially nowadays, when every work day is full of stress. About one person from five suffers from lack of sleep, because of many sleep disorders and of course this has an effect on their lives.

One of the sleep disorders is Deprivation. During the sleep deprivation person sleeps too little and sleeplessness creates many problems in a life as it affects on person's health. The causes of sleep deprivation can be several stress in everyday life, Physical or mental illness, unhealthy way of life, etc.

Sleep deprivation has several mental and physical negative effects on health. It can include dark circles around the eye, hallucinations, headache, weak immune system, loss of memory, increased blood pressure, dizziness, weight loss or gain, Irritability and more.

Sleep deprivation has a negative effect on the brain function. Sleeplessness is never good for the brain and its health. Studies showed that after one full day of wakefulness, the brain's metabolic activity decreases notably. Sleep is necessary to regenerate certain parts of the brain. After sleeping, brain continues to function well. After the long period of wakefulness, brain neurons lose their functions and the brain starts to work slowly.

Lack of sleep affects the Frontal lobe of the brain. Its function is to control our emotions and it is a place of our personality. The frontal lobe is responsible for judgment, problem solving, memory, etc. People with sleep deprivation have a problem of choosing between good and bad, creative thinking, and express emotions. Also, as studies showed, sleep deprived people have a hard time reacting to rapid and unpredictable changes.

Other sleep deprivation effects that is caused by malfunction of the brain are lack of concentration, distraction, poor memory, lack of coordination, poor alertness and many more.
