Sleeping Tips

The best way to get the sleep you need every night is to follow some uncomplicated sleeping tips and buy the best memory foam pillow there is

. It is a matter of general knowledge: sleep is vital to our everyday life. Lack of sleep causes nervousness, deficiency in concentration, and difficulty to interact with others. If you have problems with sleeping, it may be due to some eating or drinking habits or from not having the proper pillow or mattress to sleep on.

Eat magnesium-rich foods. Did you know that magnesium is one of the most critical minerals for healthy brain function? Magnesium helps regulate brain activity by preventing the brain from becoming to "hyperactive". A magnesium supplement before bedtime can improve sleep quality and even get you to sleep faster.

Don't spike your blood sugar. Here's another better sleep tip few people know about. But spiking blood sugar will increase stress hormone levels, making it difficult to fall asleep at night. If you eat "low GI" foods, your stress hormones will remain steady, improving your sleep quality at night.

Take a good look at your bedroom. Is it conducive to sleep? Make sure your room is as close to total darkness as possible. Close your curtains and make use of a towel, if you must, to shield any incoming light from streetlamps. Also, put a towel over your alarm clock - just make certain you can hear it in the morning.

Sadly, sometimes when baby looks at mommy, all he can think about is milk. That can be a real problem when trying to put baby down for the night. Sending dad in to do the nightly tuck-ins may keep baby from demanding a night-cap, so-to-speak.

During the day when your baby is awake, keep him stimulated and engaged by playing with him, talking to him, or singing to him. Also open blinds or curtains and let plenty of light in. Let him hear all the normal sounds and activity going on in your home.

When you lay down tonight, with the lights off, look around your bedroom. Are there lights blinking on your cable box? Could you light a runway with the light emitted by your massive digital alarm clock? The darker your room is, the more likely you are to maintain a deep and consistent sleeping pattern throughout the night. All it takes is small pieces of electrical tape or black construction paper over any small lights and facing your alarm clock against a wall.

Drinking and especially eating can lead to restless sleep. If you have food on your stomach, your body will be busy digesting and not resting. When you have too much to drink, you may have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, thus interrupting your sleep.

Babies will often have a security object, or toy that they like to be around that helps them feel safe. This can be anything from a blanket, stuffed animal or any other object. When your child isn't asleep, keep this object as close to Mom as possible. Babies have an excellent sense of smell, and as time passes Mom's scent will rub off on the object.
