This can be because you don't feel tired or because you know that, even though you are tired, you are still not going to be able to fall asleep.
Having taken Zopiclone, a sleeping pill, for several months I have found that whilst it used to work originally it didn't take long for my body to develop a tolerance to it. Having tried once to double up and take two instead of one in an act of frustration at not being able to sleep, I can tell you it's a terrible idea. I woke up the next morning feeling absolutely terrible and wholeheartedly recommend that nobody gives in to the temptation of doubling up on medication like this. It's a bad idea.
I have, since, found an unexpected solution to my own insomnia.
Using something I had never heard of before called brainwave entrainment', Yan Muckle has produced audio CDs that should be listened to at bedtime and I would HIGHLY recommend them.
