Smuggling Duty Free Tobacco Is Now Under Close Control.
Sells of counterfeit tobacco production from duty free is now under close control
. I June was arrested four men that were trying to sell duty free tobacco on 250,000. It was one of the biggest tobacco smuggling in United Kingdom. As we know, United Kingdom is always trying to reach the free tobacco life.
The amount of arrested tobacco was enough for hand rolling masters to make more than four million counterfeit cigarettes or other tobacco production.
One of the arrested men is from Romania and the others are from Surrey. Now they all are prisoners and waiting for court decision.
John Kay, Assistant Director, Criminal Investigations, HMRC said: This form of criminality is motivated solely by greed and personal gain, denying the UK of around 2 billion per year in duty. The unregulated sale of illegal tobacco is not a victimless or harmless crime, it undercuts local traders who cant compete with the low prices and encourages otherwise honest people to trade with criminals.
Also John Kay suggests everyone who knows something about selling cheap or duty free tobacco production, like cigarettes, cigars or cigarillos contact the police.
The duty free production is the best way to escape law. Many people want to make business on this kind of production to take money that they didnt paid to the government. Especially it is connected with tobacco production. In many countries tobacco tax is very high and a lot of tobacco sellers have no possibilities to buy it in the legal way. The result is that duty free tobacco production is a great chance to make money. But the government now is taking care of it.
