Snoring: Its Three Major Types
The noise produced while sleeping, by vibrations of the soft tissues situated on the rear of the throat and nose is known as snoring
. It is created by turbulent air-flow through narrow air passages. Mostly snoring has no medical significance unless it prevents others from sleeping.
If snoring continues in a human for a long time, then it tends to block the air flow at the back of the throat while the person sleeps. This interfere the natural ability to breath and is commonly termed as Obstructive Sleep Apnea or OSA and it affects the person's health. It is usually recommended for a person who snores everyday to visit an ENT physician, who are specialists in this section of the human body. Such doctors are located everywhere in the world, including US cities like Bourbonnais (IL) and Frankfort (IL).
Although, you may hear different types of snoring sounds, they primarily fall in three major categories:
1.Nasal: If these snorers have weak, closed or small nostrils, then they normally breathe through the mouth to make-up for the decreased air-flow through the nose. A common method to know if a person is a nasal snorer is to close one nose and the mouth of the person. While breathing in if the other nostril closes then the person is nasal snorer. For such people it is usually recommended to use dilators or nasal sprays which help to keep the nasal passages open during ht night time.
2.Mouth: Since most people tend to breath from their mouth every time, snoring sound can be prevented in their cases just by closing the mouth. This is the most common type of snorers which any ENT physician would agree to. Just like most people all over the world, numerous citizens residing in US cities like Chicago Heights (IL) and Bourbonnais (IL) suffer from mouth snoring. To fight against mouth snore the most common appliance used is an oral device designed to keep the mouth closed at night.
3.Tongue: These snorers suffer when their tongues roll back in their mouths which prevent the natural flow of air. The natural way to identify these snorers is to stick out their tongue and hold it with their teeth. If they are unable to snore this way then they are tongue snorers. Most tongue snorers depend on mandibular devices as a snoring solution.
