Snorkeling on ship wrecks

Throughout the world, there are thousands of ship wrecks. From little barges right through to massive war ships, diving on them is a hobby that many people enjoy. There is something amazing about being able to swim down to a wreck, swim through the passage ways, sit in the captains chair and be entertained by the masses of marine life that exist around them. In most cases, ship wrecks are in quite deep water. This by itself means that unless you are a very experienced person when it comes to snorkeling, you need SCUBA tanks to get there. However, some of the smaller wrecks are in 5 20 meters meaning that a reasonably confident snorkeler can get near them and have a look around.

In many cases even being able to get within a few meters of the wreck is more than enough. A lot of the ships are very tall too, meaning that you don't have to get right to the bottom of the wreck to look at it. To top it off, if you pick a nice, clear day in the water then you shouldn't have any real issues seeing it from 20 meters away. Ship wrecks are one of the best places to find fish as well. They seem to love the wrecks once a bit of coral has started growing. As a result though, many of these become marine sanctuary zones, meaning you can't fish or spear fish in them. However, this isn't really an issue; what you see down there is more than enough to entertain. Be sure to read some Spearfishing Tips if you want to get a good look at fish; being quiet and sneaky makes such a difference!

However, there are still a lot of ship wrecks in the world that are not sanctuary zones, meaning you can go down there with spearguns and get yourself some dinner. If you are fishing you need to be careful that you don't get snagged, as this is very likely on a ship underwater!
