As old as snow, snow boots in various forms are still the essentials today. They come in as many varieties as snowflakes. Perhaps these boots have cuffs at the top for a tighter fit and they extend above the hemline of pants to keep snow from getting inside the boot. Snow boots have a long history of 53 centuries according to the saying of archaeologists. They are very warm and when worn with felt liners and several pairs of socks they can withstand below zero temperatures and deep snow. In modern era, mukluks often resemble high top athletic shoes and a variation of the mukluk is knitted with soft leather sole. Many ballet dancers often wear these shoes instead of leg or foot warmers, indeed.

Ugly but useful ugg boots prevail. Among the super practical winter boots available, ugg boots stand out. Originated in Australia, UGG boots are now enjoying a worldwide popularity and the name is the endearing slang for ugly. It is true that these bulky and big looking sheepskin boots do not fit into the normal fashion belief, which is slim and curvy. But it is more than true that their warm and comfortable function in inclement weather is unequal. In 2000, the famous American Winfrey Oprah listed some pairs of UGG boots in her show and then celebrities had attached their endorsement to these shoes. Since then, these boots prevailed on the global scale. As a universal fashion icon, these comfortable over trendy boots are really revealing and more and more modern people pay more attentions to these useful snow boots and thus the fashion trends are following.
