Snow White And The Huntsman Costumes

One of the most spectacular movies for costumes this year was "Snow White and the Huntsman"

. While Snow White"s wardrobe was pretty plain for most of the movie, the evil witch and stepmother, Ravenna had some of the most amazing gowns. If you are looking for that sexy witch look, duplicating your favorite gown is the way to go.

If you are not up to designing your own reproduction, this will be the year to find them at specialty Halloween stores or to purchase yours online. It will probably be a very popular item this year so doing things to yours to make it more unique would be best. Some of the costumes come with a crown or a headdress. If they are not what you want, add some dark costume jewelry chain to embellish it a bit. Find crazy rings that depict claws and shiny orbs, anything that could be viewed as mystical.

Style your hair up in an old fashioned chignon, tied tightly at the nape of your neck so the crown will still fit. You want the style to depict an essence of power. But part of it lies within you. When you see your hair up, do you feel more powerful? Do you feel that you look more in character? If not, find one that does make you feel that way and go with it. If you just don"t have the hair to style, there are many assortments of wigs you can choose from, just remember that Ravenna had very blonde hair.

If you really want to get into character, this witch had black fingernails much of the duration of the movie and claws on her index fingers that were silver and sharp. Her makeup was flawless and heavy, even though they had none of that back then...but hey! It"s a movie, right? Generally, she loved her bling. Fancy necklaces and tear drop earrings decorated her person.

Surfing for pictures and studying what you want to turn yourself into are great ways to get inspiration for your costume. Just looking around at your choices for dress aren"t enough. You can find an okay gown and dress it up to be what you want if you find the right photo to use as a guide. Or, you can have nothing to go by and just use anything you want to. It is Halloween, it doesn"t really matter what you go as, just have fun.

Even if you don"t want to be Ravenna, find another great and evil somebody to be. There is Poison Ivy from "Batman", very feminine but very mean, or even someone like Cruella De Vil from "101 Dalmations". She had her own grace and style in her terrible and grouchy way. Who wouldn"t wear a fluffy fur coat and clingy dress?

Choosing a costume may not be an easy decision, but it should reflect you to some degree. Halloween is the only night of the year that most people get to be someone else entirely. Play it up, have a great time!
