With Englands inability to be able deal with two inches of snow the repercussions are already being noticed. The fact games are sometimes re-arranged usually leads to the game being replayed a week or two later but with two legs to be played the complications are much higher. Manchester United in particular will not be very happy as they bid to win the Premiership and Champions League, the latter of which has games coming up versus the Italian giants AC Milan both home and away. Manchester City, Blackbrun Rovers and Aston Villa do not have any European respoinisbility and will therefore be slightly better off depsite United likely to field a very young eleven to face the new billionaires of football. The new ties for the Carling Cup are likely to be played from January 15th through to the 17th January with the second legs being played a week later. The dates are only provisional of course and depends very much on the UK weather. Some may see the delay as an added break but postponements rarely make anyone feel better and United would rather have the games out of the way sooner that allow the competition drag on. Manchester City on the other hand who have found some decent form under new manager Roberto Mancini will be happy to play later as Uniteds fixtures pile up and City can concentrate on the Premier League with a fourth spot still not beyond them. With UK bookmakers currently making United favourites for the Carling Cup it remains to be seen whether the weather still has a say in the matter.About the Author:
