. For those heading out to South Africa this summer, it's going to be a real treat and an experience you will not soon forget. The South Africans have been working like crazy to spruce up their country for the games and they are also hoping that while you're there you'll decide to see some of the other beautiful things their country has to offer. One of the prettiest destinations in South Africa, and the home of Loftus Versfeld stadium, a newly refurbished stadium which will host the semi finals is the small town of Pretoria. So while you're there to take in a game, you may also want to see what this town has to offer that makes it so special.

The de-facto capital of South Africa (the South Africans have their country's judicial, executive and legislative branches split amongst three cities with the executive in Pretoria), Pretoria boasts one of the most famous zoos in the world and the largest zoo in South Africa. The zoo, the Pretoria National Zoo, is divided into several sections where animal lovers can look on and ooh and ahh at all their favorite animals. The most exciting part of the zoo is the newly renovated aquarium and reptile park. If you're in the mood for a more scenic trip, you can take a ride on the famous cable cars and see the entire zoo and the city laid out before you in all its majesty. The zoo recently acquired a Koala bear from Australia and it is the only one of its kind on the continent.

And on the subject of views, after you experience the soccer of the World Cup live and in person, why don't you drop by the Voortrekker monument? This lovely structure was built to commemorate the white settlers who left Cape Town and trekked to Pretoria to found the city. While the history it represents is an apartheid one, the curators have done an excellent job of dealing with that history and they discuss it openly. The views from the top are supposed to be breathtaking.
