Before you can use Newsvine, you must have an account with them. If you dont have an account, you can sign up for new one for free. After signing up, a confirmation email will be send to the provided email address. In the validation email, you will find a link which you must click in order to activate the account. Once you clicked on the link, your account will be automatically approved so that you can access the features in Newswine.

After signing in, the first thing that you must do is to update the profile page. To go to the profile page, you must click on your username on the black navigation bar. Updating profile page is important because it allows the visitors to become more familiar with your profession. If your profile page is setup properly, they will respect you as a professional in your field. This is especially important if you are a specialist for example, dentist, chiropractor and etc.

If you are an individual, you can upload a professional photo of yourself. You can upload a photo of any size because newsvine will automatically resize it to 120 x 120 pixels. In the Phone field, enter the telephone number which you want your client to contact you. In the First name field, enter your first name. In the last name, enter your last name. In the My Home Page field, you can enter the URL to your company site. In the One Line Bio, you can enter a short biography. You can take advantage of the full bio to summarize the type of product and services which are offering. You dont have to cover the details. By keeping the bio short, your customers can quick skim through it. Once you are done, you can click on the Save Your Profile button.

To submit a bookmark, you should click on the Seed Link button on top so that you can be redirected to the submission page. In the Link field, you should enter the URL of the webpage which you want to submit. In the Headline field, you must enter a title for the content. The title should be interesting so that people will want to read the summary. In the Your Summary field, you can enter a description to the content. The description should be a simple introduction to the real content. Promotional words should not be used in the title or description because it can get your account banned. Next, you should select a relevant category for the post. Finally, you must enter the tags so that your post can be found by visitors. If you dont use tags, your tags will only be displayed on the most recent bookmarks page. The tags which you use should be relevant to the content of the site. If you want to use multiple tags, you can separate each of them with a comma.
