Social Media Changing The Face Of Web

I do remember when I joined a forum in the web community in late 90s

, it was a great experience where I was able to share my technical and marketing thoughts with lots of people. During that time we hardly experience just few hundred people even on a famous web forums. So the basic idea behind that was a sort of web which can unite people.

Earlier it was email which was considered as master channel of mass communication and reunion of friends even if they are located across different geography but with the advent of chat and forums the internet became more and more interactive.

Although the major players in the industry Amazon, Yahoo and even google didnt give any due importance to this sort of web which indeed came into presence with the launch of MySpace. This particular social networking website became so mobilized amongst the younger generation that it created a whirlpool of networks with people across the globe. Now you have your friends under your profile, the real friend with whom you were once to close during childhood but now living in remote geographies.

Even that day the social networking was considered such a fractional part of world wide web, emphasizing the email, search engines to the prime architects. It was Google who realized the importance of social media ultimately and tied up with Myspace for advertising and even did acquired one of the growing social networking community portal Orkut. Orkut didnt do well with its traffic limited to few countries which includes India and Brazil. Later it made a lot of changes to its social media ventures.

(Google started Google Buzz which didnt do well and Google+ still struggling to gain the momentum)

And in 2004 came the Facebook and later in 2006 came the twitter. We are now quite familiar with both and each of them has unique functionality and features thereby making them the integral part of world wide web. Traditionally they were also created just to create your profile and connect with the friends but the most important and far most I would say a Revolutionary change in the social media world happened when they offered free services as Facebook Fan Pages and Twitter verified profiles.

Connect with your friends

Start your business

Launch Political or election campaign

And many other things

And the most important and not to be left is that you can begin the Revolution in the modern world through social media.

Recent Arab Spring and Occupy Wall street movements were controlled and triggered through Facebook, Youtube and Twitter.

I am fully sure that one day social will surpass search and will become #1 hotspot for netizens.
