Social Media Marketing - Comment on Comments, Build Your Social Media Relationships
Commenting on comments, is habit you want to use to build your social media relationships. Part of building your relationships on social media is actually interacting with the people who come and interact with you. You do this by making comments, re-tweet, all the different kinds of options that people have to interact with you and you with them.
The most important place to interact is on your blog, you want to acknowledge the fact that people have made a comment. You want to comment on their comment. You don't want to just post any old thing, like oh, thanks for dropping by, or nice post. Make thoughtful comments that show that you understand the comment they left on your post.
When you comment on the blogs of other people you want to be thoughtful and demonstrate that you actually understand what their post was all about. You can tell them that they made a great point, name a specific item or point and then say something about the post itself.
You may want to have a helpful answer. I recently posted on someone's Facebook wall where they had given out a link for their Facebook page incorrectly, and my comment back was "Here's the correct link, and here's what you need to do in order to get it to work." My attempt to be helpful.
Three different suggestions for you to build your social media relationships:
1. Start a conversation ~ Just simple common courtesy. You're learning who the person is, what they're all about, and they, in turn, are going to be able to learn more about who you are and what your business or service is.
2. Social proof ~ Here you want to have comments on your blog posts, you want to have comments on your Facebook page, you want to have people re-tweeting your tweets. You're associating with people. You are out there. All of your profiles; your blog, your Facebook page, your twitter stream or your LinkedIn profile, they all demonstrate that you are out there talking to people, providing value, and answering questions. Social proof, there it is, right there for everyone to see as soon as they hit one of your particular profiles.
3. Feeling loved ~ Hey, how many times have you made a post, made a comment somewhere on someone else's blog, and no one did a darn thing. Nobody commented, nobody said thanks. Remember, you want to appreciate people. Show them that you are appreciative of them coming over to your profile, your platform, and commenting on something that you have done. Give them the reward, the thanks for doing that, and then that will increase the opportunity for them to come back because they may want to go back and comment again, you may get a conversation going back and forth. So remember, you want to comment on comments, starting that conversation, demonstrating all your social proof, and letting people know that you love the fact that they're there and they're interacting.
