Hi everyone.
This is my first post so I hope you enjoy it.
Before we get into the basics of Social Media Marketing, or so called "Internet Marketing", I want to talk about a certain subject. I believe that many people think that Social media marketing is "only for the younger generation", or "it's a waste of time"...among other things. Now...let's think about the first aspect I mentioned.
"Is Social Media Marketing really not for adults?"
The younger generation will probably have an easier way around the Internet since they use it much more then the "older generation", but that should never stop anyone from using the new means of doing business.
Now let me tell you a little story (true story), I know a certain person, who is a very close friend of mine, he is 82 years old, and by accident he also loves...simply LOVES playing online games. I think the game is called "Evony". He made friend all around the world, and he is truly dedicated to the game.
Sometimes I can be with him, and he says to me that he has to go feed his troops in the game. He is very proud of himself, and frankly, I'm very proud of him. It's not every day you see an 82year old playing games online.
Why did I just tell you that story? Well, what stops anyone, of whatever age, use Social Medias? If an 82 year old can play online games you cannot send a few messages online? Why is that?
Sure Facebook/Twitter is filled with kids posting stupid pictures, or posting ridiculous things (eg. "I'm going to the bathroom, talk to everyone soon"). Does that mean you have to do the same? Of course not. Now, I'm not telling you to post only things related to business. You have to post "fun" things as well, post pictures of your latest vacation, an interesting quote you just read, give useful information to your friends, network with people and most importantly...keep an open mind.
That is KEY. Have an open mind about this new means of working. Be open to learn new things that probably go against all your beliefs/knowledge. Let me tell you one thing that is to the "Adults" advantage. Everyone knows that in order to create any sort of relationship you have to care, right? You can't just see a girl in a bar ask her to marry you can you?...I think that the result of that will not be great.
In the past, you didn't have the possibilities like today to connect with people around the world BUT, you always cared about whom you wanted to create some sort of relationship (Doesn't matter if it's a business relationship or even personal). On the Internet it's exactly the same thing only on a much larger scale.
As you can see, the difference isn't as big as you might have thought. So probably with your experience in life and your age, you might even be more successful than any youngster. Of course it's a process to learn, and that's exactly why I created this Blog. I created it in order for me to be able to help EVERYONE learn how to use Social Medias. It does not matter your age or you knowledge, you can all learn it. It's just a simple process.
