Solving Usb Device Not Recognized Error

At times, the problem could be as simple because the device is not inserted properly

. When it declines to work, check your cable and make sure it is fitted well. To do this, Pull it out, and put it back in the plug. Secure it and see if it works.

If that does not work, test the cables and wirings. If one or two is loose, it could disrupt the scanning of the device. Shut down your computer and adjust all the wirings as required. In lots of cases, this could remove the USB unrecognized error.

Disable Power Management

Proceed to the Windows' search. Type in "devmgmt.msc". Choose the file if it appears and hit enter. You will end up at the Universal Serial Bus (USB) properties section. Go over to Power Management and make sure to put a check on the small box for "allow computer to turn off this device" then click "Reboot". This might help in getting the OS to install the device. You could also use this technique on notebook PCs. However, the drawback is that it could lower the battery life of your device.

Download Drivers / Patches

It is possible that the equipment requires a driver or patch to run on your OS. To remove the message "USB device not recognize error", update your device. When the device does not require updated drivers, perhaps it is your OS that needs one.

Install via Add New Hardware

This is another procedure you could try. Just be sure that the device is attached and go to "Start Menu" tab and click on "Control Panel". Look for "Add New Hardware" then double click on it. Let the Windows scan for all installed software or any other programs. Wait for the scanning to end up. Once your device not recognized, you could use it now.

If the device does not appear, close all application opened then re open the "Add New Hardware" once again. Then select to add the device manually. Sometime the installation for the device requires you to insert the CD installer. This could help you overcome the device not recognized error. If not, click the next button until you will see the screen listing devices and manufacturers. Select your device from the list provided.
