Some Advantages Of Hydroseeding
Have you ever noticed that the grass on the other side of the fence always seems greener
? Well, it could be just psychological or you could be completely right. Many factors could affect the health of your lawn, which include weather factors and soil quality. However, the most important factor is the way you take care of your lawn. From planting the grass seedlings to watering them, from applying fertilizers to mowing the lawn, the human factor is the most important factor in maintaining the health and beauty of turf grasses. One excellent way of ensuring these is the cost-effective and efficient means of planting turf grasses using hydroseeding techniques.
Hydrospraying of lawn seeds is an alternative method of planting seeds over a large area. The method involves the pressurized spraying of a slurry mixture of water, seeds, mulch, fertilizer, and tackifier. Depending on the type of soil surface, the pressure of the spray is calibrated in such a way that the seeds will be properly embedded at certain soil depth. At the same time, the precise pressure calibration allows for more even application of the mixture on the soil. It also provides protection against erosion while preserving the moisture, thereby creating a favorable condition for the seeds to germinate and grow into maturity.
The method of hydrospraying of lawn seeds, also known as hydro mulch seeding and hydro mulching, is not a new technique. Gardeners and farmers have been using this technique for at least half a century. However, the extensive commercial application of this seeding method in turf gardening is relatively new. Its two main advantages are the low cost and the convenience of planting. Compared to the traditional rolls or sods of carpet grass, similar amount of grass can be grown using hydroseeding at almost half the price but it usually take a few weeks before the lawn grass can be grown.
Planting grass seeds through hydroseeding method is much simpler and flexible to do as compared to the traditional laying of lawn sods. The method is faster and simpler that it can be easily used to plant turf grasses on irregular terrains. Unlike the time-consuming laying of lawn sods, the need for trimming or cutting edges to fit and tessellate is unnecessary when it comes to hydro mulching method. Significant amount of time and effort can be saved because it only involves the spraying of the slurry on the soil surface.
