Welding process can be defined as joining of materials such as metals or plastics using heat or pressure

. This method of joining materials is used extensively in the production of automobiles, ships, trains, buildings, and bridges. Welding process melts the metals together to form a robust and a strong join.

There are modern technologies that have allowed welders to work with much greater precision and achieve stronger welds compared to olden days. There are some of the common methods of welding practiced and they are gas, arc, spot, resistance, electron beam, laser and robot welding.

Oxyacetylene is a common term used for gas wielding where gas and oxygen are mixed together in order to produce a high temperature flame at the torch to melt the edges of metal that have to be welded. This is one of the oldest techniques that is used and still practiced all over the world. This is mainly because the equipment including storage bottles are easily portable. This is extensively used for joining pipes and simple fabrication.

Arc welding is another type of welding method that uses an electrical arc between an electrode and the subject material and at the same time melting them together to create a strong bond or a weld. It is one of the most economical welding applications because they have been used extensively in industrial applications. But there is some problem that still persists with the arc process because sometimes welds can become brittle and weak due to oxygen and nitrogen present in the atmosphere. But to overcome this problem hydrogen, argon and helium shielded gas are used.


Another type of wielding procedure is resistance welding and it uses physical pressure and heat to weld materials. The heat is generated by the resistance of high electricity as it is passed through the materials that have to be welded. it is easily automated and economical at high volumes of production and that is why this method is very popular among industrial applications.

Spot welding, electron beam welding and laser beam welding are the different forms of welding. But before you start welding you need to consider the safety parameters. There is a grisly array of health hazards and safety risks that await the careless and feckless welders. There is some basic protective clothing that is required to be taken care before you start your welding process.

Welding cart is also essential for welding supplies. The most important element of a welding cart is for the proper storage of the gases such as oxygen that are used during the welding process.
