Some Interesting Facts About Liposuction Scars

Because liposuction is a surgical operation, it is not entirely a risk free procedure

and so one of the risks that people have to deal with is that of developing liposuction scars. These scars can be potentially quite serious, but they may even be mild. The fact of the matter is that removal of fat from the skin can lead to loosening of the skin, depending on how elastic the skin originally was.

If your body has stretch marks on it, then your skin is not very elastic and this can lead to having to have excessive amount of skin removed. After the liposuction surgical operation has been performed, there is risk that the liposuction scars formed as a consequence of undergoing the operation may turn out to be permanent.

In a majority of cases, just a couple of small sized incisions that are no greater than four to ten millimeters in length will develop around the place where the cannula was inserted. These scars will however be hidden beneath the natural creasing of skin and also by pubic hair and even by the belly button.

However, it is important to prevent the scar tissues from becoming hard or turning dark colored. For this, the best option is to keep massaging them with fingertips and to also not allow these areas to be exposed to natural sunlight.

Liposuction scars, will in most cases, develop on account of complications that normally occur following such form of surgery. In addition, the affected area will become tender and it may even begin to hurt. There is no need to worry too much about the scars because soon (within a month) they will fade away and not be noticeable any more. But, invasive procedures do result in some scarring and so it is normal to expect your skin to develop some scars after the liposuction is completed.

New and vastly improved technologies are now helping surgeons to perform their operations in a manner that ensures less risk of scarring the skin. This is on account of the fact that the incisions made are much smaller and will not be more than an inch long. This helps to ensure that scarring from liposuction operations is very minimal.

The scars are very small and also very inconspicuous and will as mentioned soon fade out on their own. However, if your skin is dark then there is a greater risk of scarring as compared to those whose skins are fair in color.
