When an employer rents a space, he or she should seek out the exits.In the case of a fire, how will employees be able to evacuate the building?In addition to exits, are there stair cases to walk down instead of just an elevator?Lighting is another important factor.If the employees cannot see well in the stair cases they may fall.When you rent out a space make sure the lighting is ample and if not, then you should have a new lighting system fixed into your budget or negotiate this with the landlord.

Likewise, the lighting should brighten hallways and aisles.If for some reason boxes or other items are in those spots, it is very likely that an accident will occur.You may also want to post signs indicating that materials should not be left in those areas.Any spills that may occur, should be cleaned up right away.These are things that you should look out for before renting a commercial space as it will give you an idea of how safe the building is.

If anyone sees that anything is out of place in the office such as items being left out irresponsibly, loose wires hanging out, overloaded circuits or any electronic products which are not working properly, it should be brought to the attention of the person in charge to keep the office safety in check.If it is something that concerns the estate agent or landlord, always discuss the request or complaint in writing.
