If you have bought window shade yet it is too long or too wide for your window, you can alter it to fit your window. Here are some ideas how to alter it.

The first thing you have to do before fitting your shade to your window is to measure the width and length of your window. Then, measure your shade. It will tell you know how much shade has to be removed. Mark the shade a few inches more than the measurement of the window. It is to avoid of making error. Mark it using a permanent marker.

The second thing to do is to remove the two plastic buttons on the shade. They will be level with the strings which run vertically in your shade. Pry those plastic buttons out using a nail file or a butter knife. Place that plastic button in a secure place. Now you will see the place in which the end of the string is tied. Then, untie them and detach the bottom slat of the window shade. Remove all the slats and then attach the bottom of the shade to its original position and then tie the string securely.

The third step that you have to do is to replace the button of the plastic. At this time, the measurement of the shade should be able to perfectly fit the window. However, if you still find it that it is too long, you can repeat all the steps above until you get the right length. On the other hand, if you find that it is too short, you should replace some of the shade slats which you have already removed before.
