Many people want to know the truth about what attracts one person to another
. The corporations that manufacture colognes and perfumes would also like to discover that one key ingredient that can ensure that people find the wearers of their product irresistible. Their search has led them to consider the effects of human pheromones.
You may never have heard of pheromones, many people haven't. They are simply a type of hormone produced by warm blooded animals. They main difference between these hormones and others that your body produces is that these are designed to effect those around you, not you.
Any one who has ever worked with breeding animals or even had a pet in heat knows how effective these hormones can be in attracting the opposite sex. What you may not realize is that humans release pheromones as well. How they function in humans is less understood but their effect is undeniable.
People are not real fond of admitting that at least part of how we live our lives is based on little more than instinct and biochemical reactions. While it is true that we have evolved past the point where everything we do is preordained by instinct, it is silly to pretend that they do not still play a role in our lives.
Our reaction to pheromones is one of the instances where biology may trump thought. If you have ever met someone and felt a strong sexual attraction to them almost immediately, then you have felt the effects pheromones can have on a body. For women these reactions can include an increased flow of blood to the sexual organs and increased heart rate. Man may react the same way but most also feel an awakening of their more aggressive side. Mix this with alcohol consumption and you can begin to understand why bar fights are so common.
As stated earlier, we humans have evolved at least some in the last thousand years. Although human pheromones can have a strong effect on the body, that is no excuse for shutting down your brain.
