. Equipped with a 3.2 inch touch screen and loaded tons of high spec features, the phone is tipping more towards the higher end smartphone than a compact option. The HD Mini has in-house support for multimedia and has a very capable digital camera. A very fast 600MHz processor powers the phone while the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS works behind the scenes to keep the user experience smooth. Aesthetically the HD Mini is one of the better looking phones on the market. The 3.2 inch screen is capacitive which allows multi-touch and has 320 x 480 (HVGA) pixel resolution. The back of the phone looks very industrial with exposed screws and the insides are a custardy colour. Within the device you will find a microSD slot which is capable of taking cards of any size up to 32GB, this mans there is more than enough storage space for your precious music, video and image files. There have been rumours that the Windows platform is outdated and not really up to the job, HTC have taken these into consideration and used there advanced HTC Sense overlay to create a fluid cushion over the top. Sense provides users with the generic clock face home screen with a live weather wallpaper. You also get the multi coloured pages of widgets which, when accessed take you to the desired applications very quickly and smoothly. The HTC HD Mini has been fully integrated with Facebook and has a dedicated app called HTC Peep for Twitter users. Sites like Flickr and MySpace can also be managed from the phone while the FriendStream feature collects together all the information across all social networks and lines it all up for an easier overview. Video and image sharing is possible across all networks and YouTube, but none of this would be possible if it wasn't for the phones reliable 3G connection, HTC have also provided Wi Fi and an Opera Browser, which incorporates multi-touch for web enthusiasts. Along with the standard SMS and MMS protocols, e-mail and instant messaging plays a big part in a person's social life these days and HTC have incorporated this into the HD Mini, there are a couple of devoted applications which allow you o set-up and access your various e-mail and IM (instant messaging) accounts. HTC have found some time to bolt a 5MP digital camera on the back; it has flash and auto focus along with a handy widescreen capture mode, compliments of the accelerometer. While the video player typically plays a selection of formats including mp4, the Windows music player supports FM and will comfortably playback numerous audio file types. The HD Mini can be hooked to your PC via USB and it can also communicate via Bluetooth. The compact smartphone market is beginning to flourish thanks to phones like the HTC HD Mini. Its funny how although these phones are so small they always seem to have long names. The HD Mini has been tricked out with all the high spec requirements you would expect from a mid range smartphone; its door mouse sized dimensions make it very pocket-able and the styling make it a successful fashion accessory among other things.
