In the North America, it was released on the 5th January 2004. The release date in the PAL region is 27th February 2004. Sonic Battle can be played as single player or multi player. The game is suitable to be played by children of all ages.When playing Sonic Battle in story mode, you have to play the game according to the story. When you beat an enemy, you will gain access into another level that follows a new story. You will also be able to gain Emerald skills if you play in story mode. In battle mode, you will deal with short battles. You can choose the location to have the duel fight by pressing the L button. If you do not choose a location from the map, the game will randomly select a location for you. The battle mode allows you to select the rules of the duel fight. To select the rifle for the duel fight, you have to press the R button. There are three different rules you can choose from. You must have the most lives in order to win the battle. Your mission is to beat the enemies so that they have lesser lives than you. The timer is displayed on the screen throughout the game. The timer informs you about the remaining fighting time. If you want to play in team mode, you can enable the tag menu. If you enable the tag menu, you will be able to select the characters that are in a team. You can choose from red or blue team. Sonic Battle lets you attack your own team mates. If you want to attack your own team mates, you can turn on the Ally Attack mode. Sonic Battle has an auto handicap mode. If you turn on the auto handicap mode, you will become stronger and faster when you lose a game. The more times you lose, the stronger and faster you will be. In challenge mode, you will have the opportunity to choose a character and the difficulty level. You will go through a several duel fights in the challenge mode. You will be awarded with a lot of scores if you take a shorter time to win. In training mode, you can select a character and the opponent you want to fight with. You can determine the special attack of the opponent. Players can select a location where the battle will be held. Players will not die and lose in the training mode. The training mode is suitable to be used for practicing how to fight.
