JEZZ Griffiths lives and breaths fashion. As one of Queensland's leading freelance fashion consultants, she likes to make a statement with what she wears.

Based in Brisbane but a regular overseas traveller, Jezz haunts downtown New York for the pieces that make up her directional style, which she describes as "classical with a twist".

Among the big names she favours are Emanuel Ungaro and Giorgio Manolo. Back home, Jezz gravitates towards local labels Innovare and Regatta Sport for quality basics like T-shirts, shorts and christian louboutin shoes .

If money were no object she'd love to have anything Mani in her wardrobe. It's an Italian label worn by Hollywood actors Sharon Stone and Jodie Foster.

But while she admits a weakness for designer garments, Jezz says she is "a style shopper rather a label shopper".

"The key is to stick with a palette that louboutin suits you rather than changing the colours in your wardrobe every season," she says.

"That way you will have a series of garments that you can mix and match from year to year.

"When I want to add some new-season colours I do it in the form of, say, an inexpensive shirt or a pair of sandals."

Jezz admits she occasionally can be a fashion victim. She bought a T-shirt dress in pale blue, which made her look "washed out".

"I knew it was definitely a fashion mistake when I couldn't even give it to my 22-year-daughter."

Style wise: A colourful mix of Australian labels make up Jezz's favourite casual attire _ T-shirt and capri pants teamed with strappy slides and scarf.

A patch of blue: A fashion faux pas made last season that Jezz would prefer to forget.

Think bronze: This Perri Cutten rust silk suit is Jezz's favourite evening piece. She bought it on sale at Myer in Brisbane a few seasons ago and hopes to wear it for many more.

Shoe chic: Jezz likes to buy louboutin shoes when travelling, particularly in the United States.

Casual elegance: At home, Jezz likes to dress down in polo-shirts and cotton trousers. "I much prefer wearing pants to skirts."
