The arrival of the Sony Ericsson Hazel and its candy phone variant
, the Elm, is a definite sign that Sony has not forgotten its commitment to delivering high-quality earth friendly products. This little slider phone combines many of the best features found in other SE phones with green engineering and a practical design aesthetic that makes it an ideal choice for an all around mobile phone. Being a Greenheart device, the Hazel is made mostly of recycled plastics and uses only waterborne paints. The technology is very impressive as it lives up to the concept of not making normal products look green, but making green products look normal. The slider phone design is a very classy approach to the hazel, giving the device that extra little visual flair when in use and that compactness that makes it easy to carry and store. Overview of the Hazel The device comes in two trendy colors; Superior Black which is a great choice for all users with its solid matte keys and glossed black casing. Passionate Red delivers a rich, deep hue that is perfect for anyone who loves to accentuate with colors. The entire phone weighs in at only 120 grams, making it very light and easy to carry in your pocket or purse. The phone comes with 280MB of onboard memory which you can use to store your media files such as music and videos. The device also supports microSD cards up to 16GB allowing for even more freedom with storage space. Speaking of media, the music playback features of the Elm are very extensive. It supports both MP3 and AAC files and is able to detect album art information as well. You can opt to play out the device through Bluetooth Stereo (A2DP). Sonys PlayNow, SenseMe and TrackID support is also present in the devices built-in media player. For those who really like their audio deep, there is the MegaBass feature. Connectivity The phone comes with its own internet browser the Access NetFront browser is complete with all the basic surfing necessities. The device will let you keep bookmarks, subscribe to feeds and even has its own Google search query box at the home screen. Of course, for anyone who really likes to stay connected with friends, there is the web-integrated application for Facebook. This will allow users to instantly check on status updates, profile changes and new messages without having to open the browser. The phone also has an integrated application for email. So if you need often need to check on your inbox, all it takes is a few taps of the keypad. The standby screen on the phone can show widgets, allowing you to control the displayed information and will give you the convenience of having the exact data you need. Coming Soon So far, the Sony Ericsson Hazel has yet to be given an exact launch date. Though many suspect that it will arrive by Q2 2010; for those eager to get their hands on a Greenheart device with great multimedia features, the candy bar Elm is expected to arrive earlier.
