The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is the latest device in the Sony Ericsson line-up to be coming with heavy expectations on its shoulders. This is because a number of pre-launch images confirmed that the phone would be coming with a Sony PSP style keyboard that will cater only to the gaming needs. It is something that has not been previously seen in a mobile phone and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be the first phone to be offering PlayStation like gaming experience on a mobile phone.

For this reason, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be using a 4 inch touch screen display. This display will be powered by the Sony Bravia Mobile Technology that recently made its debut in the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. This display will be able to offer Apple iPhone 4 like resolution in a screen that will be measuring even better than the Apple product in terms of size. The capacitive technology that the screen is using has been seen in plenty of high-end smart phones lately, but it has been tweaked with the presence of a powerful processor. This processor will be able to provide the best in gaming along with the ability to run the latest version of Android that is currently available.

The best feature about the phone, though, will be the PlayStation like keyboard. This will resemble the controls of the Sony PSP in every way and this makes it a real favourite with every PlayStation fan. Due to the presence of the powerful processor and a separate graphics card unit, it will not only be equal to the Sony PSP in terms of looks, but in terms of its processing speed and graphics support as well. Even though the internal memory of the phone is only 400 MB, it is going to be supplemented by the presence of external memory card support. The support is being provided to memory cards up to 32 GB. The phone will also be coming with a complimentary 8 GB memory card. Due to the usage of the latest 2.3 version of Android, Sony Ericsson has been able to incorporate on the latest changes that have been made in the new operating system version. It will be reflected in the user interface that Sony Ericsson has been using in its smartphone range for a long time.

In the will be the five megapixel camera that is going to be assisted by the presence of features like image stabilisation, Geotagging, touch focus and LED flash. It will not be having the 720 p HD video recording option. Instead, there will be only the video recording option in the WVGA resolution. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is going to be run on a battery that will be rated at 1500 mAh. This is an extremely powerful battery capable of holding extraordinary talk times and gaming times. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is currently available in the United Kingdom for pre-order price of 520.
