As such, it measures 136.5 x 19 x 146.5 mm and weighs 300 grams, which means it is quite portable and, thus, easy to carry along with one's laptop when traveling.

Of course, wirting BD-R disks at speeds of 6x is not the only thing this product can do, it being also capable of handling a variety of other formats.

The portable drive offers quick and easy connectivity with a high speed USB (USB 2.0) digital interface for simple setup and maximum flexibility.

The BDX-S500U drive can record up to 50GB of data for random access storage and backup on BD-R (write once) or BD-RE (rewritable) discs, or up to 220 minutes of high-definition 24M bps MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video on a BD-R/RE 50GB disc.

The drive also records standard 4.7GBdvd rw drive at up to 8X speeds, 8.5GB DVD+/-R Double/Dual layer at up to 4X, DVD+RW at up to 8X,DVD-RW at up to 6X, CD-R at up to 24X, CD-RW at up to 16X, and supports DVD-RAM recording at up to 5X speeds.

For instance, CD-R/-RW disks are scribed at up to 24X, whereas DVD-RAM optical disks are written at 5x.

What's more, the ODD can also write ontoDVD RW Drive, at 8x speeds to be exact, as well as on DVD+R/-R DL, at 6x.

In addition to this, BD-R DL disks are also supported, the rate at which data can be scribed onto them being of 4x.
