Sony Sending Out PSP2 Development Kits

Reportedly, to realize a strong global sale, Sony has handed PSP2 software development kits to some major game development studios

. It's said that Sony is planning to build a "significant launch window line-up" to contend against Nintendo 3DS huge third party platform strategy.

It was claimed by reliable source earlier that the developers can get the PSP2 prototype within the year (some developers have got it before). Sony has sent out PSP2 development kits to many game studios, including their own developers and the third party developers. Many insiders have already confirmed this news. It makes the impression that Sony is spreading its PSP2 technological information widely across the whole gaming industry in order to gain one or two significance superior works and establish a big effect at launch.

Currently, many huge development studios are very cautions about the information of PSP 2, and don't want to unveil further details on PSP2 prototypes. So far, only one manufacturer announced publicly that they have got the PSP 2 developing prototype. Shaun Himmerick, the executive producer of Netherrealm studios unveiled in an interview that they are studying the performance of PSP2 to determine how to develop corresponding games. He also said "Always a big thing for us is the performance. We're running at 60 fps, what can we do and do we have to build all the art assets over. We're definitely looking at them, PSP2 looks like it's a pretty powerful machine."

Previous rumors have it that PSP2 will follow PSP go mode, which would be a download-only handheld game console. Whereas PlayStation CEO and Chairman Kazuo Hirai has also indicated in the interview with MCV that Sony's digital-only PSP go was a success. But Sony Company's future consoles would not abandon physical media. He said "there's always going to be requirement for businesses with the size and scope of our magnitude to have a physical medium. Whether it a portable device or a home-based console."

Sony PSP2 will be released next year, which may be conflict with Nintendo 3DS that is certain to be launched in the same year. Today, Nintendo conference will announce 3DS sale date and price details. However, 3DS development kits have already been widely in circulation to each development studios for quite a long time. Now that we know the PSP2 is real, it only remains a matter of time to unveil this secret handheld game console.
