Sony cuts price of PSP to $129

The new prices will be effective from Sunday, Feb 27. With the latest drop in price, Sony PSP will now be priced equal to the Nintendo DS Lite.

Price reduced of Playstation

Sony has sold 23 million units of the PSP in North America and about 67 million worldwide. Sony said in a blog post, "Since launching in 2005, the PSP platform has had a profound impact on the way we play games while on-the-go, pushing the boundaries for cross-media entertainment and setting the benchmark for quality for portable games." The news about the reduction in the prices of PSP comes after two weeks of the launch of Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play, which was also called the PlayStation phone at the World Mobile Congress at Barcelona, Spain. This phone works on Android OS and has a slide out PlayStation controller.

New games added

The company is also going to include new games to its Greatest Hits' and Favorite' collections. The Greatest Hits collection will now also feature games like Assasin's Creed: Bloodlines, LittleBigPlanet PSP, Dissidia Final Fantasy, Metal Solid Gear: Peace Walker, Resistence: Retribution, Toy Story 3: The Video Game and Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters. The Greatest Hits collection is available at $19.99. The Favorites' include Crisis Core-Final fantasy VII, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Daxter, Killzone: Liberation, Socom U.S. Navy Seals, Fire Team Bravo and Tomb Raiders Anniversary. The Favourite' PSP titles retails for $9.99. With the latest drop in price, Sony hopes to retain its market share. Sony also unveiled the next generation PSP which will have dual thumb sticks, touch screen, 3G connectivity and two cameras. It will also have PlayStation 3 Like graphic quality. The device will be launched by the end of this year.
