Sony-ericsson Xperia X10 Review

The LG T-Mobile G-Slate, which offers 32 GB of memory

, front- and rear-facing cameras and high-definition touchscreen displays, is as different from the Samsung as day is from night. Yes, both of them offer 32GB of system memory and both of them offer high-definition, high-resolution displays (1280 by 720) at 1080 p (or native high-definition resolution, however, the LG offers a feature the Samsung Galaxy tablet does not offer, 3D graphics.

In other words, there are actually 2 5MP camera lenses in the rear of the LG Slate, each one offering a slightly different angle of an image. When you run them as high-definition videography devices, you will see that the LG offers 3D imagery (it also offers 3D imagery if you obtain the right app from Android), while the Galaxy's 8 MP rear-facing camera offers only a single-image high-definition display, while its 2 MP front-facing display offers video chats or videoconferencing. The LG's 3 MP front-facing lens does that as well.

Both can serve as WiFi hotspots, recognizing WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n standards, however, the LG offers another feature that the Samsung lacks and that is the ability to tether another device to its output.

Yes, the Samsung Galaxy does offer an HDMI output so you can interface a high-definition display to the Samsung and both offer excellent audio output. The LG, though, when it comes right down to it offers more, even though its screen is just a little smaller, at 8.9 inches versus the 10.1-inch Samsung screen.

Both tablets are running the same dual core Tegra processor and both of them are running software that has been optimized to allow multitasking, however, the LG offers you the ability to not only keep a small listing of icons on-screen to indicate exactly the features you have been using, but, if you touch the time button on the lower right, you will find a complete report on the device itself.

Of the two tablets, the LG offers a little more with some reservations. For example, the LG, like the Samsung operates as a tri-band device in the in the GSM service at 800, 900 and 1900 MHz, on both sides. The second set of frequencies uses HSPA+. The LG Slate also offers the ability to serve as a hotspot for up to five other WiFi 802.11. a/b/g/n devices. The Samsung, on the other hand, offers quad-band service at 800, 850, 1800 and 1900 MHz, as well as HSDPA+, EDGE/GPRS service at 800, 1900 and 2100 MHz.

Of the two, the LG seems to be pushing the envelope more as it offers native 3D capability, as well as excellent high-resolution color and optimized contrast, while the Samsung offers optimized HD video. It also offers one item the LG does not have and that is a 320 5400-spin backup hard drive so if you have a memory problem with the Samsung, any data you have has been saved.

It just depends whether you are willing to go with 3D or more dependable HD service and that choice is up to you as each is an excellent device.
