Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Southwest Tennessee Community College maintains two campuses and four centers. There are three associate degrees offered: associate in applied science, associate of arts, and associate of science. The school also offers technical certificates, courses for non-degree students, continuing education, and distance education.

What it Offers?

Opportunity of distance education and instructional technology provides the students obtaining the higher education through a very flexible learning environment.

Several options for alternative learning are offered including online courses, web-assisted classes, split courses as well as tele-courses.

Meetings in the classroom with assignments completed online feature the web assisted class.

Face to face instructions and online learning.

Classes based on a series of television programs constitute the tele-courses.

All these courses cover the textbook materials.

Characteristics of split courses are face to face instruction as well as online learning.

Open Academy

Southwest Tennessee Community College remains open for all the students that are seeking further education and also meet the requirements of admission. Both transfer students as well as transient students are accepted. For providing flexible learning environment transfer students as well as the transient students are also accepted. Classes are conducted at the day time as well as in the evening. Both full time and part-time job is available for the students following the needs.

Admission

Prospective students have to follow a few steps for admission to the community college.

Filling out application forms with $10 as non refundable application fee will commence the process.

All transcripts have to be enclosed with the application.

Students have to submit proof of immunization or enclose the certificate of immunization form.

Hepatitis B waiver is one of the requirements.

Submission of ACT or SAT test scores is mandatory for degree seeking students.

Financial Aids

Financial assistance to needy students in form of scholarships, grants, and employment are provided. For receiving the aids the students must demonstrate academic progress while working towards achievement of the associate's degrees. Commuter Campus

Diverse student population makes the college a commuter campus. Opportunities are available to students for getting involved in campus life including a host of student clubs, publication of student newspapers, as well as athletics.
