The newest out of the three main art centers in Madrid is The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum with numerous big galleries painted in a peachy purple color with a heavy natural lighting to them, altogether hosted in the superb Villahermosa Palace built in the XVIII century. The impressive art collection numbers around 800 paintings illustrating the cultural history of Western Europe through representative works for each major artistic period, starting with the Italian gothic in the XIII century and reaching the extravagant American pop-art in the XX century. The main trump card of the museum is the coherence of its art collection, which illustrates better than in any other place in the world, the evolution of western European art.

Fuente de la Cibeles or The Fountain of Cibeles is situated in the east of Madrid, representing Cibela, the goddess of fertility and the unofficial logo of the Spanish capital, lying in her lion pulled cart. Next to it, reaching to the skies is the Palacio de Comunicaciones, the central headquarters of the Madrilenian postal office, hosted in a gorgeous building resembling a cathedral.
