If La Gomera is your destination then you need to ensure that your flight lands early enough in the day. Once at Tenerife, as long as you have enough time to get to the afternoon catamaran or the ferry service, you should reach La Gomera without too much difficulty. The flights to Tenerife are reasonably cheap and are constantly departing from most of the English airports. You will need the extra 30 minutes or so for a taxi to the ferry port and the crossing to San Sebastian takes about 40 minutes, depending if you catch the catamaran or the ferry. At San Sebastian unless you have an arrangement with your villa owners, taxis are easily available to take you to your residence; you could of course hire a car.
The island has many beaches and one of the best is the Valle Gran Rey. This is an attractive golden sand beach on the south west coast in an area of successful banana growing. Apart from passing your time on the beach you could spend it wandering through the many quaint forests and hillside walks. Hire a car to go up into the mountains: the highest spot on the island is the pinnacle of Garanjay and is only a 20 minute walk from where you would park the car. There are plenty to see as you meander through the pathways on your way up.
