Spartan 300 Workout Program The cast and stunt crew of the movie "300" were tested
in a physical endurance program in order to make them fit for battle "Spartan style". The movie was a hit with men and women alike in part because of the dynamic look of the film and the sheer physical perfection of the actors. The movie also spawned a physical fitness challenge called the "300 Workout". "300" is a one-time test, a way of proving your ability to overcome your physical limitations. Many men have taken the test and posted their times on line. Of course we have to take their word for the results but it has become a sort of individual challenge. This challenge is not for the couch potato or the weekend warrior. You have to be extremely fit to get through it. In case you missed it, here it is: "The 300 Workout" 25x Pull-ups
50x Dead lifts at 135 lbs.
50x Push-ups
50x Box Jump atop 24" box
50x Floor Wiper at 135 lbs (one-count)
50x Kettle Bell Clean and Press at 36 lbs. (KB must touch floor between reps)
25x Pull-ups That's how they came up with "300 Workout Challenge" Several people have asked for a definition of some of these exercises because they were not familiar with the more esoteric ones. I'm going to explain how to execute the box jump, the floor wiper and the kettle bell clean and press. Box jump * Stand with your feet directly beneath you.
* Jump up sideways onto the box. Your feet should be directly underneath you.
* Immediately jump sideways back down, landing with your feet directly beneath you.
* Repeat the exercise without stopping until you are done.
Spartan 300 Workout Program The floor wiper * Lie on the floor with a barbell bearing 135 pounds.
* Bring the barbell up in full press position.
* Keeping your legs together, bring your feet up to the left side of the barbell and touch the plates.
* Bring your feet back to the floor and bring them up to touch the right plates for one count. Kettle bell clean and press * Stand straight with your feet slightly wider than your shoulders and place two kettle bells between them.
* While bending your legs, grab the two Kettle bells and push your rear end back.
* Swing the Kettle bells overhead in a clean motion. At the same time, contract your abs, gluteus and back muscles. Keep the motion smooth.
* For additional force, press your legs into the floor. The Wolverine workout is an actual workout program used by many stars and was created by physical trainer Michael Ryan. Jackman worked out with his personal trainer for this movie along with Liev Schriver and Ryan Reynolds the actors who played Sabertooth and Deadpool respectively. Michael Ryan focuses on increasing muscle mass though an intense compound exercise training program. He then puts Jackman through a second phase for relative strength training and fat reduction. This two-phased program builds bulk and then increases proportional strength. Each phase lasted six weeks. Jackman's program: The workouts consisted of compound exercises set at 3-1-0 tempo. He would lift for three seconds and come down on one. This routine allowed Jackman to pack on lean muscle mass quickly. Phase two was about strength which meant no-holds-barred lifting. The weights got as heavy as possible in this phase to increase muscle strength. The training time lasted five months with the phases alternating in six week intervals. What do you think?
