Speeding Occupations and Statistics
Hundreds of thousands of people are convicted for motoring offences in the UK, but it seems that professional footballers are the most likely to commit offences like speeding, going through red lights and using their phones when they are driving. A third of footballers have points on their licence, as opposed to au pairs who statistically have the least amount of points on their licence, a mere 1.9 percent. This is statistically lower than the average. This makes sense as au pairs will often have children in the cars and therefore not want to put their lives in danger, and footballers are famous for fast cars and speedy trips.
Riggers, and people who lift heavy objects came in second on the worst career drivers poll with over twenty percent of them having points on their licences. Driving instructors list in the occupations with the least points, clocking up only three point five percent of convictions in this bracket, while cameramen claim a whopping twenty three percent, putting them on the top ten naughty list. This is a fairly obvious statistic, as points on a licence could put a driving instructor's job in jeopardy, and therefore they will want to minimise this. Housemaids again made the good spots clocking up just less than five percent of convictions.
Brian Martin, who carried out the study said "Powerful cars are closely associated with the footballers' lifestyle so perhaps for some of them the temptation to speed is simply too much. As for politicians, our research shows they are not above the law. Why so many have motoring convictions isn't clear but many spend quite a lot of time on the road commuting from constituencies a long way from the seat of government. I think we can safely say driving isn't an area where we should be looking to them for guidance."
It seems a little unnecessary for cars to reach the speeds that they do given that the current speed limit on the fastest roads is seventy miles per hour.
If you are driving on the roads in the UK, make sure you have Car Insurance.
