The splendid seaside resort Shanklin, is situated on the Isle of Wight

, England and is located on the east coasts Sandown Bay. Shanklin is one of the oldest towns on the Isle of Wight, and is a very popular holiday destination. What makes it so popular with tourists from all over the world is its gorgeous thatched cottages situated in the Old Village and its waterfalls, trees and lush vegetation in its wooded ravine, known as Shanklin Chine. In addition, Shanklin is full of great shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. There are several places to wine and dine along the seafront, with amazing views of the sea and the sandy beach. There are several places to stay in Shanklin such as hotels, guest houses and a variety of self catering accommodation, so that tourists on all kinds of budgets will be accommodated.

Shopping in Shanklin is superb. There are two roads Regent Street and High Street which comprise the largest retail area in the south of the Isle of Wight, and is useful for tourists as well as for locals. The town has two main supermarkets the Co-op and Lidl, as well as many local art, craft, clothing and sport shops. Shanklin is also famous for its theatre, which is located just off the top end of High Street.

The main reason why tourists head to Shanklin is to experience the beaches and esplanade. Shanklin is blessed with two beaches Small Hope Beach and Hope Beach. The esplanade is situated above Hope Beach, and boasts excellent traditional seaside attractions including an amusement arcade, a golf course and a childrens play area complete with slides, bouncy castles, swings which is perfect for a childs birthday party. In addition, the esplanade has a sailing club that holds races three times a week during the season.

Nature lovers will have much to enjoy in Shanklin. America Wood is a Site of Special Scientific Interest located between Shanklin and Whiteley Bank, which is a woodland area. Active and determined visitors can make use of public footpaths and bridleways that lead into the wood there is little accessible parking so you will have to walk there. There are also three churches in Shanklin St. Pauls Church in Regent Street, which has the bell from HMS Eurydice, St. Blasius Church, which is better known as Shanklin Old Church and the Church of St. Saviour-on-the-Cliff, which is the largest church in Shanklin.
