Spiritual Growth With The Tarot - 7, THE CHARIOT

The Charioteer stands firmly in his dull gray chariot in front of what seems to represent a river. In the distance in back of him a city is be seen. He wears body armor with a gilded breast-plate; there's a white colored square upon it typifying the numeral four, which stands for rationality and practicality. His helmet is black, dressed with gold, and encircled with what appears like a living garland of greenery. At his shoulders are two moon-shaped designs, one a smiling face and the other frowning, representing the positive and negative polarities of the Cosmos.
The front of the chariot demonstrate the wings of inspiration over the Lingham-Loni, the Hindi mark of male and female, once more standing for electropositive and electronegative polarity. Before it, where one expects to see horses, are two small-scale sphinx-like forms, one black, one white (again symbolizing positive and negative polarity) and they're lying down. The sphinxes are facing slightly away from one another; if they were to attempt to pull the chariot, they'd be pulling in two different directions.
Now, things become fascinating. Looking closely at The Chariot, it appears as though it is built of concrete. Even if the sphinxes arose and worked in collaboration, they in all probability would not be able to move it, it would be way too heavy. Intriguing There are no straps hitched to the sphinxes either, and, while the charioteer holds his hands in the attitude of driving, there are no reins. This simply does not present in the scene a feeling of movement. It looks more like suspended animation, or, maybe, a break in the activity. Now it is time to connect-the-dots. Exactly what is happening, here, anyhow?
The Chariot symbolizes our self-aware or conscious mind in the action of pushing the physical body on its selected course. Esoterically, The Chariot represents receptivity. It depicts, in effect, a suspension in daily action to listen, to be receptive to Higher Guidance. All of us have a pipeline to the Godhead, we're an intrinsic component of the Godhead! With meditation, we can acquire the ability to tune-in to this power, our God-Self, for counsel in making our choices.
We ascertain how to listen to that still small voice within us. It is available to all of us; we merely need to listen. Now, the Guidance will NOT overwhelm what we're thinking or doing. It allows us carry on our way, using up as much time as we choose to discover life's demanding lessons. However, it's always available whenever we allow ourselves the time to take heed of its call - when we listen. It also talks to us in feelings. As The Lovers instructed us, we often feel whether what we're doing is good or bad for us. It also occurs as a hushed inner-voice revealing to us "this is good!" or, "this is not so good!"
Once more - we are, each and every one of us, an indivualized part of the Divine and the ALL is forever available to us for guidance. The more we take the time to listen, the more quickly we will learn and grow. We must learn to meditate, to listen. It's very important in our Soul growth.
