Spiritual Growth with The Tarot - 9, THE HERMIT
Spiritual Growth with The Tarot - 9, THE HERMIT
By TarotMeister, CTM
The Hermit stands on the peak of a snow-capped mountain. He's wearing a heavy gray robe, against the chill of the high altitude. He has a long beard, symbolizing experience and wisdom. In his left hand a long hiking stick, letting him rest after the long journey he's taken to find the higher truths he has been seeking.
He looks back down the trail he took to get to this high spiritual place. In his right hand, he holds a lighted lantern lighting the way for those who follow. This is a spiritual tradition; first he did the work to develop his knowledge and spiritual wisdom. Now he lights the way for others on the same path as he.
It is our responsibility to provide a spiritual light to the spiritual growth we, ourselves, have gained. On the highest level of Spirit, we are all a part of the Great Creator. Consequently, when we bring spiritual "light" to others, we "must", grow spiritually ourselves.
First: we need to set aside time for regular meditation. Then we have to fill our minds with as much spiritual reading as we can find to help us continue to grow. Now: as we grow, we try to help in the spiritual progression of others; this brings about a spiritualupliftment for the entire human race. That's what this is all about, each of us climbing, and helping others climb, steadily upward to Universal Mind, the "God Consciousness."
We are all examples for others to follow. Whether you like it or not, we all set an example. However bad or good our behavior may be, there are people who are impressed by us and copy what we do. Scary, isn't it! But, it IS our reality. So, it is a very good idea to watch our own behavior.
Don't forget there are those who watch your behavior and follow you! Try to keep your example one which you would like others to follow, one you'd appreciate seeing in the behavior of others in your world. The actions of those around you will be a mirror to yourself. If you don't care for what you're seeing change the example you set! From there the changes are automatic. You'll like the world and those who inhabit it a lot better when you keep your own behavior In a way you'd like your children to behave.
When you meditate on The Hermit, look deeply into how you experience in your world and how you'd like to see it change. Then try to see the way in which own behavior is a mirror of what you experience in your world. Be really honest with yourself, and you'll find many changes you can make to make the world you experience a calm and spiritual world in which to live.
