The city of Abu Dhabi has historically been considered as one of the best known custodians of Arabic art and culture

. But with the advent of the Middle East as one of the world's foremost centers of commerce, the city has been transformed into one with a more cosmopolitan outlook. The city that once home to Arabic traders and Bedouin nomads is today a cross section of the world's nationalities, and the large number of expatriates in Abu Dhabi has no doubt influenced its nightlife.

Many varieties of traditional Arabic food, especially those eaten by the nomadic tribes, can be found in small eateries and food carts. Furthermore, most shopping malls in the city have extensive food courts that feature an array of dining option. However, for diners who demand a higher class of gastronomic pleasure, a wide variety of gourmet restaurants serving everything from Chinese to Colombian cuisine can also be found here.

Many an Abu Dhabi hotel such as the Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri Abu Dhabi also offers its guests a variety of dining options at their restaurants. An Abu Dhabi luxury hotel usually has a number of in-house restaurants that offer guests anything from Continental to Asian food.
