Commonly caused by E Coli and other bacteria found in the large intestine invading the urethra and causing symptoms that include a burning sensation while urinating, a more frequent urge to urinate, and fever or chills as well as other related symptoms. A home urine infection test can help confirm whether you are suffering from a UTI.

The Causes Of Urine Infection

UTIs are caused by an infection in the urethra. As the urethra is located just in front of the anus it means that infection is easy and E Coli and other bacteria are ideally placed to make their way to the urethra. Further problems can occur if the bacteria travel to and infect the bladder, known as cystitis, or even the kidneys.

Urine Infection Symptoms

Many urine infection symptoms are related to urine. Urine may become cloudy, dark, bloody, or strange smelling. The sufferer is likely to feel the urge to urinate more frequently and the urge may be more intense. It may also burn when the patient tries to urinate. Other symptoms include pain or pressure in the lower back or abdomen as well as feeling shaky and tired. Fever or chills can be a sign that the infection has reached the kidneys.

Use a home test for detecting urine infection symptoms. These test more indirect signs of infection such as the existence of certain chemicals and proteins that are not normally present in urine but become present while suffering from a UTI. If the test confirms the presence of a UTI then you should consult your doctor, who will almost certainly put you on a course of antibiotics.

Treatment

Antibiotics are the primary course of treatment for urine infection. These kill off the bacteria that are causing the infection and it is important that you complete the course prescribed even after you start to feel better. You may also want to drink Cranberry juice because this contains similar antibacterial properties. Pain medication and other treatments may also be provided to help ease the symptoms as well as the problem itself.
