There are a lot of great spring break vacation spots, like the beaches of Cancun or Florida, the sights and shopping at New York City, or skiing at Vail, but if you'd rather study and get ready for final exams, it's your call - you may want to store your bags somewhere, though, to avoid getting ribbed by your schoolmates for missing out on spring break.

Traveling cheap can make spring break even more enjoyable. Be resourceful in travelling cheap - you can either purchase airline tickets through special deals, or travel via car and go on a good old-fashioned road trip with the gang.

Raising Funds For Your Flight

Your after-school job may be making you some good dough every now and then, but you still would need cheap airline tickets if you want to fly on a student budget. There are three main options if you want to score a cheap flight.

Funds From Friends And Family It's not a bad idea to try asking your friends or your parents, aunts or uncles to lend you or give you money for a flight - they may also have unused travel vouchers that you could use to help pay for your trip.

Membership Programs And Flight Rewards You may not realize it, but if you are part of a membership program like the AAA, or if you have a mileage program with your credit card or a student discount program, this could help cover trip costs as well.

Flying At The Last Minute If you're amenable to taking chances, you can try to book a flight at the last minute and end up with ridiculously cheap rates for local or international travel.

Going On A Road Trip

If you'd rather not fly, you can go on a road trip via car, but take note of this mini-survival guide for your road adventure.

Dividing Fuel Costs Equally Fortunately, gas prices have been low as of late, so a long road trip shouldn't cost much, but before going on the trip, make sure that the people you are with understand that they all would need to pitch in for fueling up.

Get Stocked On Snack Food Having enough snacks to last the entire road trip is key to making the trip successful - stock up on snack food at the local grocery so that way nobody goes hungry on the long drive. Ready-made snacks like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are also a nice idea.

Getting An Inspection Before The Trip Many believe that the best road trips are those done on impulse, but you need to make sure that your vehicle is in tip-top shape to avoid repair expenses and other inconveniences. Have your oil changed, make sure you have enough gas, and check your tire pressure and tread before heading out on the road. It doesn't hurt to have an emergency repair kit or spare tire handy.
