Spring Holiday Ideas For Beating Depression
Summer may be in full swing, but now is the time to book a spring holiday
, not only to save money, but to help see you through the darker months of winter. It is a fact that instances of depression increase during the winter months. Shorter days mean that many people don't see the light of day, going to work in the dark, and going home in the dark too. Although there are several ways that anyone suffering from such a seasonal slump can help themselves, such as investing in a special lamp, or increasing an exercise routine, having something to look forward to once the days get brighter can make all the difference.
The longest day of the year is on 21st June, but few people in the UK notice that after this date the days start to draw in, instead celebrating the summer whenever the sun shines. By the time the shortest day of the year arrives on the 21st December, we feel spent, and don't know how we can face the harsh winter still in store. By booking a spring holiday while spirits are still high in the summer, there is less chance of feeling the negative effects of the winter months.
Some of the most popular spring breaks are for far flung destinations, where the sun is shining, and the heat is high. These holidays are designed to recharge the batteries, and are welcome reward for anyone who has worked hard through the winter. It is also a great way to build up a tan and focus on the coming summer season. All inclusive resorts offer the best package to holidaymakers that just want to kick back and relax, but for others, a spring holiday with a far more active theme is what blows those wintery cobwebs away.
Going hiking in a national park, trekking in the forest or having a go at an extreme sport are all thrilling ways to welcome in the spring, and are ideal for a short break. Rather than using up half the year's holiday to get invigorated, take a long weekend and feel the full force of nature with an outdoor adventure. If the experts are right about the need to up the exercise to feel happy again, this is bound to dispel that deflated feeling. The piece de resistance of a spring holiday that hits all the right buttons though is an activity holiday in the sun.
