Sprint Promises 10 Google Wallet Devices This Year

Google Wallet is a Smart-phone application, which helps in making payment through mobile phones

. It is developed by Google Inc. This mobile phone application enables its users to store gift cards, credit cards, loyalty cards and credit cards. It also allows redeeming sales promotion on their mobile phones.

Google Wallet works on near field communication system, which makes the payment safe, secure and fast. It is convenient to use, one just need to tap the phone to any PayPass enabled terminal at checkout.

Google first demonstrated the mobile Wallet application at press conference on May 26, 2011 and on September 19, 2011 Google officially released the mobile wallet app.

Earlier, mobile Wallet app was available only on Sprint Nexus S 4G. However, recent announcement made by creator of the mobile payment service, to release this application across 10 new Sprint mobile phones in 2012.

This application can be downloaded from Googles android application market. This application has experienced only little adoptions, since it was released in last September. Reason could be the limited availability of this app, which is only on Sprints Android based Samsung Nexus S phone. This app is compatible on Samsung Galaxy Nexus and will be available late this year.

Osama Bedier, Vice President of Google Wallet and Payments say that, the payment system included with this app is secure. However, last months research revealed that, the app has security holes causing threats to be get hacked.

Despite all odds, Bedier promises to launch Mobile Wallet app in over 10 additional phones at Mobile World Congress in March, 1. He further said that, Bedier remains in talks with other operators, financial service firm, banks, device OEMs. This should, definitely boost mobile Wallets availability and its status among consumers looking to purchase a new Android Smart-phones.

Wallets status should also get a boost with the involvement of mobile payment joint venture such as AT and T, T Mobile and Verizon Wireless. This service will be put to test in Austin, Salt Lake City and Texas.

Mobile experts are busy arguing the issues such as limited availability, security or competition related with Googles mobile Wallet. I guess it is the lack of habit or un-will to shift towards new technology. However, NFC payments based system are unproven market in U.S. Google is also offering their Wallets customers with 50% off or more discounts in goods and services and it is live in various cities across US.
