When surfing the web, one often comes across websites which are just downright cool. Their graphics are modern and chic, their colour choice bold, their content entertaining but minimal. Other sites we come across are plain, boring, limited. Despite initial reactions, the reason for this isn't always budget. Sometimes a simpler design is more suitable for a basic website that sells a basic product. Moreover, funky websites might look cool, but aren't always the easiest to navigate, making them less user-friendly. And of course, graphics that are too over the top can be distracting from the site's primary purpose which is to inform, persuade, or sell.Some ways to spice up even the most basic site include:1. A fun personnel page:A company's personnel page is the perfect place to splash out and add a little bit of personality to your website. Take funny photos of your staff, or funky black and white ones, and have them write little bios of themselves. Make them comical by including things like "aspire to be" (and write something really far out), or have devil horns appear when one hovers over their head or think bubbles that say funny quotes.Even the most professional websites have the opportunity to be a bit fun. Including personality or new ways of displaying information into your website not only gives it character, but it shows your ability to let loose.
