Squeeze Pages With Video Will Never, Ever, Ever Work


Don't waste time trying to get those fancy videos installed on your squeeze pages. They won't work now, and they won't work ever. Oh they'll play alright, but in terms of boosting the optin rate on your squeeze pages above 60%, keep dreaming.

There are three fundamental reasons that video will never work on squeeze pages - and by the way, I realize that this is a bold assertion, and if I'm ever proven wrong I'll happily eat my words, but follow along... I think I make a pretty convincing cast that will help you build your list faster...

First off, it's important to understand exactly what you're trying to get your squeeze pages to do. They don't exist to do any "selling" they don't exist for name recognition or "branding" or professionalism - they exist solely to build you an email marketing list.


When you've got an email list, you can sell products and services through email with the push of the send button - it's the simplest, quickest way to make a ton of sales and drive a flood of traffic for free that I've ever seen.

So, being that squeeze pages hold up the lions share of the responsibility for building you that list, it's important to get them right. And to lots of sloppy marketers, that means throwing video on their squeeze pages... (without doing any scientific experimentation to prove that it actually helps you build your list faster).

I, on the other hand, am a sloppy marketer who HAS done some extensive scientific testing on squeeze pages, and over and over the results show that video is an unnecessary distraction that destroys conversions.

Squeeze pages that once converted at an optin rate of 70% or higher could dip as low as 20%. Effectively, that's like slashing your list down to just a fragment of it's potential for no good reason.

So, the three fundamental reasons that I've concieved of why squeeze pages will never play nice with video are as follows:

1) Video can take time to load, and people are impatient. If you're setting up something on your squeeze pages that could be driving away the impatient visitors you get then you're qualifying your list based on who is the least impulsive.

That's stupid. Your impulsive subscribers are going to be your biggest spenders, your most frequent customers, and your bread and butter as an online entrepreneur. Don't scare off the impulsive types from your squeeze pages by making them wait for your video to load - instead, make your squeeze pages simple, easy to understand and quick to scan. Your prospect should get the whole "gist" in 10 seconds or less. If they want to learn more, they can opt into your squeeze pages and get on your list.

2) Squeeze pages are like the cover of a book. And believe it or not, people really do judge books by their covers. If you've got a video that even 10% of your traffic thinks is "cheezy" or "boring" or "unprofessional" then you're scaring off potential customers needlessly.

Those same people who flee from your video squeeze pages could flock to your videos after they get a chance to know you through email - don't jump the video gun too soon and scare them off.

3) Squeeze pages don't require video. There's no need for it. Anything you need to say to get people to opt in can be written in a headline, and - if your specific offer is complex (which it shouldn't be) maybe a list of benefit packed bullet points.

Adding video to squeeze pages is putting lipstick on a pig, except the pig is a piggybank and the lipstick is a grenade. Don't explode your profits because someone told you video is "great on squeeze pages".


It's not. Don't do it.

And if you do, make sure you run a good scientific split test between your video squeeze pages and one or ones without video. I'll bet you your nose hair you won't get any video squeeze pages to convert at over 60%.
