Srilanka Beaches

Sri Lanka is known for its striking beaches which attract largenumber of people

. Here one can find some of the most beautiful sandy beaches. Somme of these beaches are found in Bentota (South West) there are number of resorts here to make your stay comfortable. There are also many private hotels as well like Taru Villa, Club Villa and River House that enjoy pools and awesome beaches. The South Coast of the country has many wide beaches and lagoons which are thronged by the people but, generally the Southern coast suffers with the seasons and most of the beaches there narrow off between April - October. However, it does brags of the best reefs in Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa.

Unawatuna and its surrounding beaches are quiet narrow, but these beaches are known for its exceptional snorkelling reefs. Here one can find the sheltered and quiet bays which give a complete serene environment. There are some private villas like Southpoint, Beach Hut, Apa Villa and If Villa.

Mirissa is another town in southern part of Sri Lanka which brags for its marvellous beach and has less number of tourists. There are number of Guesthouses here and the travellers find out this corner but we have found few splendid villas which are positioned on the cliff overlooking Mirissa beach. The guesthouses are just 20 mins away from the beach. Cinnamon Mount and Point Sud are two of the best in villas here and are most appropriate for big groups and families.

Further in the Eastern part of the country you can reach at Tangalle which is situated on the South corner and is less commercial but is the home to many clandestine and exclusive villas like the Claughton House and Mahawella, the last house.

The East Coast is known for the most remarkable beaches, but the tourist areas of Trincomalee and Aragum Bay are not much developed. East Coast beaches are the best for those who would like to enjoy the towering hot temperatures, great diving world-class surfing and simple living. One can enjoy on the eastern beaches the most.

Some other well known beaches are Negombo and Unawatuna therse beaches are generally preferred by the families. Here one can find some well-established beach resorts which are slightly more commercial. However, the Negombo beach is most of the time congested due to the crowd of the fishermen and touts, and the sea here is at times rough.
