The Goan sands are full of cheer, music and happy go lucky people
. The Portuguese influence is distinct, but the aura of India is very much present. Located on the Western coast of India, Goas history dates back to the second century BC when Buddhism was introduced by Emperor Ashoka. Over the years, Goa has peacefully embraced different religions including Jainism and Christianity.
Along the riverbed of Siridao in Goa a church building was erected in the year 1695 in Baroque style. Even after completion it remained nameless till there was a sudden divine occurrence in the village of Talaulim where the church is situated. Legends reveal that a Brahmin lady inhabitant of the village who was gravely ill had been miraculously cured by a saintly lady who held her hand in her dreams. In the reverie the divine lady had claimed that the monastery was her home. The priest incumbent at the time immediately recognized it as a sign from above and sanctified the church in the name of St. Anne.
Today the church is one of the most monumental places of worship in the area and hosts an array of religious ceremonies including the Feast of St. Anne. Both followers of the churchs teachings and admirers of the churchs architecture flock in numbers to its premises every year.
While you visit St. Anne Church prepare to be charmed by the Goa hotels, the warmth of the people, the popular carnivals and the delicious food of the Goa restaurants.
