There are many places to visit when you spend time on holiday in Cornwall. One certain town that is worth spending time exploring is St Austell, which is situated near some of this part of the UK's best coastline.
If you do decide to visit the town then below we take a look at some of the things worth seeing during your time there. Although you may find that one day is sufficient with so many different things to do and see here you may find it far better to spend a couple at it.
For those of you who are interested in learning more about the history of this town then spend time at the Wheal Martyn China Clay Heritage Centre. This was originally a china clay mining town and the clay mined has for many years been used in the production of a variety of different items including plates, cups, saucers and ornaments. At this attraction you have the opportunity to really learn more about the town's history and what life was like when it was first established and how it has changed over the intervening years.
If you are someone who is fascinated by the sea and sailing then head to the harbour town of Charlestown a short drive from St Austell. As well as a number of different old ships that you can look at it also has a small wonderful museum you can spend time inside exploring should the weather turn a little bad. It again provides you with some interest facts regarding the history of this particular harbour. However this isn't open all year round and is only open for certain times throughout the year.
After learning so much about the history of the region then of course you may just want to relax and enjoy the sun. Luckily for you there are a number of great beaches around St Austell that you can spend time on.
