Stains On Your Sofas

While it is true that some stains are really very hard to get out

, it is also true that if you put some timely effort in home cleaning and taking care of your upholstery in due time, you may have far fewer of such embarrassing moments like the ones mentioned above.

But lets go over some of the toughest stains your sofa may get such as grease, paint, blood, red wine or coffee.

If you have a leather sofa and spill something over it, it may be a bit easier to wipe it out, especially if you are quick and do not postpone it. What is important when dealing with any leather surface is that you must use soft cloths only, so as not to scratch the surface. But first things first get a highly absorbent paper towel and put it over the spill. Continue until the towel comes out dry. Then wipe with a damp towel. After that you may want to apply any kind of product for leather upholstery cleaning. If the spill is a dark liquid against light leather, you need to use a really good quality, water based foam cleaner. Do not in any case use alcohol, any strong chemicals, baby wipes or just something youre not very sure about.

For any other type of sofas such as velvet or regular ones, things may take some more time and effort. If you have an oily stain on your sofa, while it is still fresh, sprinkle some salt on it and leave it for a while. Salt is a good natural absorbent and will pull out much of the grease. Also, you may try washing it gently with lemon juice. If you have blood stains or any bodily fluids, dont wash them with hot or even warm water that will only make it worse just put a paper towel to absorb some of the stain and then, when washing it, do it with cold water and sofa cleaning shampoo solution.

These are the basics as far as upholstery cleaning goes. They are tested and effective ways to solve some of the most common stains your sofa might get.
