Stand Out From The Crowd: Extraordinary Xmas Gifts
Thinking back to when you were a child, Christmas morning seemed like such a magical
experience you wake up in an excited fashion, spring out of bed and scramble to your stocking. You see it filled to the brim with presents and your little heart takes a tiny leap as you let it fill with dreams and wishes, excited to see what presents you have been given! Finally getting to see what was in that big massive box under the tree, the magical mystery of unwrapping your gifts and the burning desire to rip the paper off to see if Santa got you what you wanted! And then there was the overwhelming feeling of anticipation, wondering if the little box in the red wrapping marked 'To Mummy, Love Daddy", which you had been rattling for the last two weeks and have dropped several times, was broken or not!
Indeed, Christmas day is truly extraordinary for children. They get loads of presents, eat lovely food, lots of chocolate, special pudding, play games all day, see cousins and grandparents and just jolly well have a good time! Alas, Christmas for adults is not quite so magical. First there are financial concerns, then there is the stress of picking out the perfect Xmas gifts, then the dreaded time spent with relatives. Having to watch uncle Bob drink too much and your competitive sister Susan and your perfect cousin Angela indulge in a yearly battle of 'one-upmanship'! Meanwhile you have to deal with spoilt children and uninspired gifts, such as another pair of novelty socks...
However, you do not have to resign yourself to a Christmas like that! This year could be different, if you are prepared to stand out from the crowd and give everyone extraordinary Xmas gifts! Can you imagine how much better you would feel about Christmas Day and how much nicer everyone would treat you on Christmas Day, if you bought them extraordinary Xmas gifts? Just say 'NO' to cheap smellies from the local chemist, say 'NO' to garage bought chocolates, pound shop selection boxes, mundane gift vouchers and knock off toys from the market! Pledge that this year you are going to make an effort and bring a smile to everyone's face come Christmas morning!
Do not worry about breaking the bank, as extraordinary Xmas gifts do not have to be expensive (although if your budget allows, a day trip to Paris is considered extraordinary by anyone's standards!). Yes, extraordinary Xmas gifts can be extravagant, but they can also be thoughtful and personal. Making the receiver of your Xmas gifts feel special, having them appreciate the thought and care you put into choosing their present, that is what makes an Xmas gift extraordinary!
Having now pledged to seek our special gifts, wherever do you start? Well, first you should decide on your budget and have a clear list of who you wish to buy presents for. When compiling your gift list do not simply put the persons name. That simply will not do when you are going to purchase extravagant Xmas gifts! You need, instead, to put everything that you know about that person. Start with the basics, age, sex, relation to you (i.e... Sister/brother) favourite colour, football team, hobbies, etc...
Build up and image of the person, remember you are striving to get beyond the usual "my brother John likes music, so I will buy him a music voucher'! If your brother likes music so much, why not book him a taster recording session? If you cannot afford it, but know he would love it, get everyone to chip in! You will be surprised how many others are struggling for Xmas gifts ideas and will be so overwhelmingly grateful that you have an inspired idea that they will get their wallets out in a second!
Forget a bottle of wine for your sister, send her on a wine tasting course. In fact, those types of gifts are usually for two people, so why not kill two birds with one stone and send your mum with her, too! And, rather than let them have all the fun, treat yourself and your father to a whiskey tasting tour!
If you always thought cousin Angela thinks rather a lot of herself, why not let her live up to her name? Buy her and her long suffering husband a Lord and Lady title gift box! And, if you want to make someone feel truly special with an extraordinary gift, then buy your bookworm niece Stacey a personalised classic! Forget Alice in Wonderland, she can read the glorious tale of 'Stacey in Wonderland' .
Dare to be different this Christmas and make it an extraordinary one for all the people in your life, with extraordinary Xmas gifts!
